It was decided that we'd head back down to the borders for this month's run having passed through on the way to our Northumberland weekend last month. We arranged to meet up with some locals and some of the guys we'd met in Northumberland from the MGR.org forum at the Selkirk classic car show which was on that Sunday.
We met at Newhouse this time as it was more appropriate and set off with John & Helen Dickson leading the way.
John took us along some great roads down to Peebles where we stopped to meet up with Ian Lindley who showed us some of the local backroads and led us down to Selkirk. As they had some problems with car parking, we decided to abandon the cars on a verge outside the showground and walk. (a decision that paid off come leaving time!).
We spent a couple of hours looking round the various exhibits and buying tat before heading off to Baxters for a coffee and bun (and to wait for those, who shall remain nameless, that had used the car park!). It is safe to say that I have never seen pieces of cake that size before and even I, with my well deserved reputation for having a sweet tooth, could not even eat half of one slice! (cake lovers go there soon-you will love it!).
We eventually headed back up through some very dramatic scenery that will be revisited on the MGCC/ Freedom event next September (booking now!).
We were blessed with decent weather which made a welcome change this summer and I like to welcome Ian who was on his first freedom outing and also Robert and who brought along his very attractive 'Aurora' TF
